Mental illness is a serious problem people cope with worldwide. In the U.S. alone, approximately 60 million people must manage the symptoms of a mental illness in any given year. The month of May has been designated as Mental Health Month in the U.S., and Ergotron wants to help. We’re donating $3,000 during May to each of three respected organizations in our backyard. These nonprofits help people cope with mental health challenges and move our community forward, including:
- Avivo, which specializes in helping men, women, and families who face complex barriers—poverty, homelessness, unemployment, chemical addiction or mental health concerns—achieve recovery and economic stability. They help with chemical recovery, mental health, employment, housing and job training.
- Touchstone Mental Health, which provides an array of innovative person-centered services for people whose lives are affected by mental illnesses. Touchstone programs help people recover from mental illness and develop the skills they need to live well in their communities.
- NAMI Minnesota, which champions justice, dignity and respect for all people affected by mental illnesses. Through education, support and advocacy, they strive to eliminate the pervasive stigma of mental illnesses, affect positive changes in the mental health system, and increase the public and professional understanding of mental illnesses.
In addition, Ergotron is donating $5 based on each Ergotron Store sale (U.S. only) in May. Customers simply designate which of the three organizations should receive the donation connected to their purchase. Those who want to do more might consider making a direct financial donations to support these and other worthy organizations helping people deal with mental health challenges.
As a company devoted to health, we encourage everyone to understand the challenges facing those dealing with mental illnesses and to learn more about the connection between mental health and healthy movement.
