We’ve taken the pledge. Will you? The American Diabetes Association (ADA) wants you to Get Fit, Don’t Sit on May 6 by taking the pledge and engaging your workforce. They supply the reason, you supply the fun, healthy physical activities. That’s a winning combination.
1. Commit to get your company up and moving at least every 90 minutes. Take the pledge and your company will be recognized via social media and published on the event website. Plus, we would love to hear how your company plans to participate in the day.
2. Plan physical activities that fit your workplace and corporate culture. Pledge to: Take the stairs when possible. Use the restroom that’s farthest away. Exercise at lunch or after work with co-workers. Forget email even exists for interoffice communiques. Walk or bike to work or park in an outermost spot. While at your desk, stand up and stretch. During long calls, pace or lift hand weights. Set up an internal competition.
3. Spread the word. Let everyone know about your participation, including employees, customers, and key influencers in your industry. (It motivates others to increase their physical activity when they hear about your efforts.) Ask people to share their stories and tips for success in limiting sedentary behaviors. Make sure to use the hashtag #GetFitDontSit on social media.
Together, we can rise to the challenge this May 6th!
